The role of culture in human life and society

It is culture that makes a person a person. The level of culture of an individual is determined by its socialization - familiarization with the cultural heritage, the degree of development of individual abilities.  Personal culture is manifested in the development of creative abilities, erudition, understanding of works of art, fluency in native and foreign languages, accuracy, politeness, self-control, high morality.  All this is achieved in no the process of upbringing and education.

Culture regulates human behavior in the family, school, at work, at home, because it determines social norms. Violation of these rules leads to certain sanctions. In the sphere of work, life, interpersonal relations, culture, one way or another, influences the behavior of people and regulates their actions, and even the choice of material and spiritual values. The regulatory function of culture is supported by such normative systems as morality and law.

Culture performs an aesthetic function. Beauty, music, painting, a poetic word make a person kinder. "Beauty will save the world" - once wrote F.M. Dostoevsky. Culture helps a person to restore his spiritual strength, to carry out "purification of the soul."

Culture is considered social memory, because  apart from culture, society has no other mechanisms for concentrating all the experience that has been accumulated by people.

Culture, concentrating the best social experience of many generations of people, acquires the ability to accumulate the richest knowledge about the world and thereby create favorable opportunities for its knowledge and development. A society is only as intelligent as it makes full use of the knowledge contained in the cultural gene pool of mankind.

Thus, culture is the historical memory of the people, a peculiar way of human existence and a universal way of creative self-realization of a person.
